Father's Day Project #2

So, I decided to go ahead and start on Daddy's 2nd project.:) I'm really excited about it and if you know my dad, then you know he loves food. lol
I saw this Idea on Pinterest and thought it'd be fun to do one for daddy.
I didn't notice it when I loaded this, but apparently I cut off the left side of the pic and I'm too lazy to take another one, so this will have to do. :)
Anyway... I love it and can't wait for him to see/eat it. <3

Father's Day Project #1

So my best friend made me this blanket for Christmas. I LOVE and use it ALL the time!

  Why does this matter?
                                                                  I'm about to tell you...
So, I was thinking about what I would get daddy for Father's Day and figured a blanket would be a good idea since he likes to take his little naps on the couch before work, all wrapped up in some kind of blanket.
I didn't wanna get him just any blanket, so I looked at Walmart's and Walgreen's online photo centers for those fleece blankets with collages on them. I figured I could upload a few pics and get him one.
Wellllllll... Bad idea. Those things aren't cheap! Lol
So I called T.P. up, asked her how she made mine and made one for Daddy:)

I started by getting some fleece from walmart. I got 1 1/2 yards in the Carolina blue/white and the solid white. When I got home, I laid the two pieces together, smoothed out the air bubbles and used sewing pins to keep them together.
I ended up having to go back and put the pins about 2 inches higher than they are in the first picture because of the way you have to cut it.
I cut a square off, about the size of the one I'm holding in the pic, on each corner. For the strips, I cut most of them about the width of my thumb or a little smaller and the length of the scissors.

Then, I started knotting the strips.:)

I made sure to knot it so that the solid white showed on the printed side and the print showed on the white side.
And this is the finished product.
I think it looks pretty great myself. I can't wait till he sees it.:)
He shouldn't see this post since he doesn't get online much. He probably doesn't even know I still blog...
Anyway... Thank you, T.P. for helping me with this project!

Rainbow Cupcakes

So, I made these Rainbow cupcakes for Harrison's Patch class a while back and decided to make some today. They're pretty easy, so I figured I'd blog about it since I haven't blogged about anything in a year.
So, here we go...
I grabbed a box of Mama's white cake mix, mixed as directed and divided into four bowls. Then I added the food coloring of my choice. I think the blue, yellow and pink are pretty but that green didn't turn out as good...

Next, I added about 1 1/2- 2 tsp. of batter of each color into each cupcake hole... or whatever you call it, until the batter was gone.

I just kinda put the batter wherever...

Then, I took a toothpick and randomly swirled it to my liking:)

When they were done I went around the edge if the cupcake with a fork and plopped them out on the counter.
Then I iced them and I was done.

                                                                      ---The Result---
Aren't they pretty?:)
